A bodybuilder friend of mine in Phnom Penh recommended we go check out a local market where there are various vendors selling all sorts of natural superfoods and powders to use in our daily fruit smoothies, since we both needed to restock.

I was initially excited about getting more aloe vera, but upon hearing about all the other natural products we could get, I grabbed a backpack and we biked over to check it out.

Like most places in Asia, where there’s one, there are many! So all the vendors were selling pretty much the same products, but at different prices.

So we loaded up on powders, nuts, and seeds, some of which I’m familiar with and others which I know are healthy, but need to do more research to fully understand why they’re so powerful.

Over the next few days I’ll do just that, and post the benefits of:

  • Aloe Vera
  • Moringa
  • Sacha Inchi
  • Turmeric
  • Ginger
  • Cinnamon
  • Maca

The last one is a powdered root that I bought at a different place, but I’ll add it to the list since it’s a core part of my smoothies.

And of course, cricket protein powder! That’s the core ingredient that turns an ordinary vegan diet into the natural superfoods boosted Entovegan one!

Why is cricket protein powder such a great smoothie addition?

Well, besides being loaded with protein and a full amino acid profile, cricket powder is made from a “whole food” (the entire cricket, not just extracted protein) and is high in calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, and vitamin B12!

In fact, crickets have more vitamin B12 than salmon or beef, and 9x more omegas than wild salmon!

What are the two biggest criticisms of the vegan diet? Yep, low in omegas and B12, and vegans have to supplement. Well, I’m supplementing too – with crickets!
